Beside the old road that has witnessed the courage of Minute Men, marching to first challenge the King’s troops and fire “The shot heard ‘round the world”, Hawthorne Inn was raised [c.1870] on fertile earth once owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott and family, and Nathaniel Hawthorne.

We have filled the Inn with much to share: poetry and literature to entertain and to enlighten you, artworks that are a wonder to behold, weavings and coverlets to snuggle on a crisp autumn eve and burnished antique furnishings that speak of home and security.

Proudly, we offer you the comfort of seven vibrant guestrooms whose gracious appointments are inspired by a refreshing sense of tradition and the unexpected. Our overnight guests enjoy enjoy our popular multi-course breakfast, featuring the Innkeepers' Specialties, served each morning around a convivial common table.  As you amble in the footsteps of Patriots and Poets you will savor the Inn's unique location near the Historic Sites, Author's homes, the Village Shops, Walden Pond, Minuteman National Park and the North Bridge, where was fired, "the shot heard 'round the world". Located across the road from Hawthorne's home, "Wayside" and the Alcott home, "Orchard House", the Hawthorne Inn is a short walk away from Emerson's home, Concord Museum and the Village center.

Many choose the Hawthorne Inn as a base for day-trips in to explore Boston, Cambridge, Old Sturbridge Village, Salem, Plymouth Plantation, Lowell Textile Museum, Ocean Beaches and the many nearby College Campuses. Travelers often utilize the convenience of the commuter train to Boston and Cambridge.

Seven  private guestrooms offer a balanced harmony between modern amenities and time-burnished antiques. Canopy and Four-poster beds, comfortable seating and the intricate designs of oriental rugs offer a counter-point for the background of restful colors.  Several rooms can accommodate a portable single bed for families.
Displayed throughout the Inn are fascinating Japanese wood block prints, Pre-Colombian artifacts, modern paintings, bas-relief sculptures and varied collections that will satisfy all tastes.
