Black Point Inn’s Epicurean Weekend is a unique event that will provide you with a chance to delight in the food and drink of a new region while making new friends and enjoying the hospitality of one of Maine’s most beautiful and gracious inns. Let us be your host to a weekend of relaxation, education, and revelry! 

This year, our epicurean destination is Italy. We invite you to delight and indulge in Italian culture while gaining an understanding of their food, wine, and spirits as well as a new sense of comradery with your fellow explorers.  The itinerary is simple- no security lines, no bags to check… arrive on Friday, the keys go on the dresser, and away we go!

Friday, October 28th:

5:30pm – Welcome Reception

Black Point Inn and our friends at Pine State Beverage Company will welcome you with a taste of traditional Italian cocktails and 'Spumante' while we enjoy a selection of ‘antipasti’ and other Italian treats, the sun setting over the ocean, and the new friends we are making.

6:30pm - 8:30pm- Dinner in The Chart Room

Step into The Chart Room and imagine yourself in the Italian countryside; a rustic, family-style meal to be enjoyed with the sounds of our crackling fire and hearty conversation. Break bread alongside us over the casual ‘cena’ paired with your choice of red or white table wine.

Saturday, October 29th:

8:00am - 10:00am - Breakfast

Enjoy a full Italian ‘colazione’ at your leisure in The Chart Room composed of traditional pastries including ‘cornetto’ and ‘zeppole’, as well as coffee, ‘orzo’ and other tasty treats.

10:00am - 2:00pm - Free Time

Spend some time exploring the local area. Whether you head into Portland or decide to stay close to home, there plenty places to explore or activities to enjoy.

Should you prefer to take advantage of it, a limited lunch menu will be offered as picnic lunches and can be ordered through the Front Desk at special Epicurean Weekend prices.

2:00pm - 4:00pm – Italian Wine Certificate Seminar presented by Sam Brown, CSW, of Pine State Beverage Co. and Fred Mullins with Vias Wines, under the auspices of the Society of Wine Educators

Take a guided tour through the diverse regions of Italy. Taste and experience an array of wines from across both countries that beautifully represent the time and place of their creation.  Finish the seminar with a short exam (optional) to see how well you paid attention to the information… You may be surprised just how much you now know about Italian wine!

4:00pm-6:00pm - Free Time

6:00pm - Cocktail Hour

Once again join us and our friends at Pine State Beverage Company to begin the evening’s ‘feste’ with drinks and ‘il aperitivo’ before our culmination dinner event!

7:00pm - Formal Italian Dinner and Certificate Presentation

Black Point Inn’s culinary team has worked to prepare a classic, formal, multi-course spread that will delight each of your senses. Our Chef will introduce local meats, seafood and produce that represent the bounty of Maine's autumn harvest and reflect distinctive Italian cuisine. Our Italian experience continues with wines specifically chosen to accompany the meal.

Sunday, October 30th:

8:00am - 10:00am - Breakfast

Join us one last time in The Chart Room for a Full American buffet and a chance to say ‘addio’ to your new amicos until next year!

Join us for this special weekend with rates starting at $945.00* per couple for two nights of Maine oceanfront lodging, great food and drink, and fun.

The package includes for two guests:

- Lodging for Friday & Saturday night,

- Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning,

- Welcome Reception with traditional drinks and antipasti on Friday night

- Casual dinner on Friday night

- Wine Seminar and Tasting on Saturday afternoon

- Cocktail hour with drinks and aperitivos on Saturday night

- Formal, wine-paired dinner on Saturday night.
