Contemporary Luxury by the Sea...

The Tides Beach Club, Kennebunkport’s newest boutique hotel, enjoys a unique, one of a kind beachfront location on Goose Rocks Beach. With stellar ocean views of one of the Northeast’s most gorgeous beaches, Tides Beach Club offers a high end yet casual beach style resort with terrific dining, an active cocktail bar and beach amenities. Formerly Tides Inn By the Sea, one of Kennebunkport’s “grand dames” on the beach in Kennebunkport, the property has retained many of the incredible architectural elements of “The Tides” while creating a new modern, hip, casually elegant ambiance for this beachfront boutique hotel.

After completing an extensive “room to lobby” renovation during the winter of 2010 to open in Spring 2011, the Tides Beach Club promises to be Maine’s finest beachfront resort. The modern, coastal décor, expansive lobby and terrific ocean views throughout combine to create a unique distinctive hotel in Kennebunkport Maine.

A sister property of the extraordinary Hidden Pond, The Tides Beach Club offers guests access to Hidden Pond’s two pools, Tree Spa treatment rooms, wellness center activities and the unparalleled dining experience at Earth.

Overview Text:
The Wilburton Inn, once the largest private estate in Manchester Vermont, was the summer home of Chicago millionaire and philanthropist James Wilbur. At the turn of the twentieth century, Robert Todd Lincoln, the President’s son, and his friend, Chicago businessman Albert Gilbert, created two vast neighboring estates. Gilbert situated his mansion on the crest of a hill with spectacular views of the mountains and the Battenkill Valley below. His architect blended an English Tudor style with the new modernism promoted by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wilbur bought the 400-acre property in 1906 and named it Wilburton Hall. The original 1902 mansion is complemented by villas built as homes for the sporting families who developed the estate as an elegant, exclusive club in the 1950’s.

Georgette Wasserstein Levis and Dr. Albert Levis purchased the Inn in 1987 from RKO General Tire and transformed it into a 25-acre historic boutique hotel, with modern luxury.  The main rooms of the inn are furnished with antiques and oriental carpets.  Many rooms feature high four-poster beds and fireplaces. Dr. Levis was born in Greece and is a retired psychiatrist whose sculpture and art collection graces the gardens of the estate. Georgette is the sister of Wall Street legend Bruce Wasserstein and Pulitzer Prize winner playwright Wendy Wasserstein. Georgette and her sisters are part of the best-seller book Sisters. Their son Oliver Levis, a graduate of Cornell’s Agriculture School, has revived the Wilburton’s original status as a gentleman’s farm. Once again, the hillsides and meadows are blooming with flowers, organic greens, and heirloom vegetables.

Located in the National Historic district of Manchester Village, the Wilburton offers fine dining, marvelous views, pool, tennis, nature walks and nearby ski mountains, golf, biking and designer outlet shopping. The views from the Wilburton, over the valley and toward the surrounding mountains, are among the finest in Vermont.

The Wilburton’s restaurant includes three dining areas as well as the spacious marble outdoor terrace—all with spectacular views of the mountains. Guests often began an evening with cocktails on the terrace in the summer or by the living room fireplace in the fall and winter. The Billiard Room maintains the feel of a Robber Baron retreat with mahogany paneling, vintage racehorse prints and a massive fireplace. The airy Terrace Room and the gracious Battenkill Room are ideal for private dining or group events. The outdoor marble terrace is the perfect location for a group to enjoy an informal dinner or reception and watch the sun set over the valley.
The menu presents classic cuisine with a contemporary European flair and an emphasis on fresh local produce. Oliver Levis, a graduate of Cornell’s Agriculture School, has planted the Inn’s hillside with organic vegetables and herbs.

A treasured area for visiting guests during the summers, the Verandah sweeps across the south facade of the Ocean House. The outdoor terrace overlooks the pristine croquet court, with the vast Atlantic and Little Narragansett Bay in either direction. Fresh shellfish from nearby waters are shucked to order; succulent oysters, clams and crab claws are part of the traditional New England raw bar served out on the Verandah. The menu also includes savory light items including a daily ceviche and an assortment of delicious sandwiches. With oversized chairs and low tables, the Verandah beckons you to relax, enjoy a brisk cocktail paired with a heavenly bite, and stare out into the ocean as the waves crash along the shoreline.

Overlooking the Atlantic and adjacent to the pool, this is the perfect place to enjoy a casual lunch and a variety of light sandwiches, delicious snacks and refreshing smoothies. In the evenings, meet for a drink on the terrace and watch the sun set before dinner.
