Dining at Sebasco...
a Pure Maine experience!

“Pure Maine” is our culinary focus at Sebasco Harbor Resort. We will provide the best of what this region has to offer with creative, healthy and delicious results.

Toward that end, our mission is simple. We believe that the food we grow, procure from the local community and cook in the place that we call home, define who we are. In this spirit we:

  • Celebrate and update regional American heirloom recipes
  • Offer them genuine neighborly hospitality
  • Support local and regional organic farmers, lobstermen, fishermen, cheesemakers, dairy farmers, cattle ranchers and producers
  • Cook food that recaptures the simple and pure tastes found in locally grown, natural and sustainably harvested ingredients
  • Strive to raise awareness of a sustainable food system for the future of our children
  • Work to restore a sense of community that brings us all back to a more homegrown time and era

Our goal is to promote a community gathering place that brings us all together with food, fun and most important family, offering a complete cultural experience. Our slice of Midcoast Maine is a beautiful and exciting place to live and work. We are proud and happy to be part of our "neighborhood", Sebasco Estates and Sagadahoc County. We are all neighbors, whether you are coming into town from any locale in New England or have traveled further than that. Come on by and grab a bite of a real homegrown culinary experience.

The elegant oceanfront setting of the Pilot House is the “place to be” for dinner and a sunset. The Ledges Pub offers a more casual dining atmosphere with patio dining available.

During our summer season there are special dining events, including Lobsterbakes and Blueberry Pancake breakfasts, to highlight your vacation.

The Pro Shop
The Pro Shop offers an assortment of snacks and beverages (including beer and wine) as well as their famous hotdogs throughout the day. An a la carte menu of soups and sandwiches is available each day between 11:30—2:00 pm.

Dining Attire
“Resort casual” attire is requested in the Pilot House Restaurant and Cornelius Dining Room (khakis and golf shirts are acceptable). More casual attire is acceptable in The Ledges.

Sebasco Harbor Resort's
Area Attractions

More vacation fun to explore!

Sebasco Harbor Resort is located in the village of Sebasco Estates in Midcoast Maine. This area is a region rich in natural beauty, history and cultural attractions with spectacular coastline, lakes and natural woodlands. Activities abound for all ages. There are galleries and museums, professional theater performances, festivals and fairs, and shopping in charming boutiques as well as factory outlet stores. There are many things to do in our beautiful part of the world. Have fun exploring!

Before you venture forth from Sebasco Harbor Resort, be sure to check in with the Concierge and get maps and our recommendations for good stops along the route to your destination.

Van Tours – Scenic & Historic Phippsburg
Join a local historian for a scenic and historic tour of Phippsburg. This old Maine town, incorporated in 1814, is one of the nation's most historically significant and scenically beautiful coastal areas.

Enjoy the sights and scents of the woodlands along winding roads that once were Indian trails by the rivers and the sea. Diversity distinguishes the character of the ten villages around the peninsula’s perimeter—seaside fishing settlements nestled on steep ledges, resorts along broad beaches, river and countryside communities.

Scenic Train Excursions
We have joined forces once again with Maine Eastern Railroad to give our guests the opportunity to take part in these amazing same-day adventures. Sebasco will make all your arrangements and even provide transportation to/from the Bath Depot. Climb aboard their restored vintage railcars for a carefree journey through the spectacular scenery of mid-coast Maine, between Bath and Rockland. You’ll experience charming seaside villages, picturesque sailboats, lobstermen working their traps on the bay, tidewater wildlife, and, in autumn, magnificent foliage.

When you disembark in Rockland you’ll have approximately 3 1⁄2 hours to visit 2 nationally acclaimed museums, 18 art galleries and 23 restaurants, all in an easy walk from the downtown Rockland train station.

The Finest Vermont Has to Offer
European-style cuisine is featured in our three restaurants - The Dining Room, The Lounge and our DeliBakery - each with its own distinct character. Our Chef has designed seasonal menus reflecting both Austrian and Vermont traditions. The staff selects only the season's freshest local produce, game and fish, along with herbs and vegetables grown in our own gardens. We are proud to be members of The Vermont Fresh Network; building innovative partnerships among farmers, chefs and consumers to strengthen Vermont's agriculture.

In the Spring of 2010, we opened the Trapp Family Lodge Brewery. The modest facility (60,000 or so gallons a year) is located in the lower level of the DeliBakery (formerly the Austrian Tea Room), where draughts of the heavenly concoction are available year round.

Emerson Inn by the Sea is now proudly able to serve your favorite wines and spirits. The Town of Rockport requires that, "alcoholic beverages may only be ordered in conjunction with the consumption of a meal."   A meal consists of an entree or multiple servings of other dishes.

Rockport, Massachusetts is most famous as an art colony. The town was also a major granite shipper until the depression closed the quarries. Today, vacationers sunbathe on the rocks and beaches, take walks through the woods or along the shore, or watch the whales from boats out of Rockport or Gloucester. The Rockport Golf Club has a fine nine-hole course about three miles from the Emerson, and there are tennis courts less than a mile from the Inn.

Rockport Town
With one of the most picturesque harbors in the nation, Rockport town is the epitome of quaint, New England charm. Embark on a Cape Ann whale watch in the hopes of seeing local marine wildlife. See Motif No. 1, the red, harbor-side fishing shack that is one of the most-painted (and photographed) buildings in the world. Stroll along the streets of downtown, and the famous stretch on Bearskin Neck, through a variety of antique stores, jewelry shops, clothes boutiques, and other shops. Dine at Emerson Inn or eat locally at one of the delicious little cafes.

Art Galleries
A thriving artist colony, Rockport features many small art galleries and art stores offering works in various forms - from paintings, to sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Click here for a list of Rockport art galleries. The Rockport Art Association sponsors exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, workshops and educational programs for children and adults throughout the year. The association also holds an annual art auction, usually in May.

Beaches
Rockport offers a number of lovely beaches, each with its own character. A renowned scuba diver's spot, Back Beach is located between Main and Granite streets. It also offers great views. If you are looking more for peace and quiet, Cape Hedge Beach on South street is quietly tucked away – a perfect place for solitude. Front Beach is a busy beach on Sandy Bay – walking distance to downtown Rockport and its restaurants and shops. Long Beach, off Thatcher Road, is another long, protected stretch of ocean and sand, backed by a cement retaining wall and lined with summer cottages. From Long Beach you can easily view the twin lighthouses on Thacher's Island.

Boating & Water Adventure
Whether you are aimin to catch a giant bluefin tuna or just want a quiet sail, Rockport offers the perfect boating charter. We are happy to make recommendations for a charter.

Golf
More challenging than it first appears, the semi-private Rockport Golf Club has thick, tree-lined fairways that put a premium on shot accuracy. Although a 9-hole course, there are additional tees that can be used when playing an eighteen-hole round. Ask an innkeeper for information on public-use times. Open April 1 through November 1.

Lighthouses
Straitsmouth Island Lighthouse was built in 1835 to mark the entrance to nearby Rockport Harbor. The relatively small lighthouse is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard but the island itself is owned by the Massachusetts Audubon Society as a bird and wildlife sanctuary. The Twin Lighthouses, also known as Cape Ann Light Station, are the only surviving multiple lights on the coasts of the United States. The original 45-foot towers were constructed and lit in 1789—making them among the oldest of America’s lighthouses.

Museums & Historic Sites
The Sandy Bay Historical Society, housed in the 1832 Sewall-Scripture House at 40 King Street, features an extensive collection of local history and genealogical information. Permanent exhibits also include the works of deceased Cape Ann artists Fitz Hugh Lane, Aldro Hibbard, Alfred Wiggin and Charles Gruppe. The Paper House is a historical site that must be seen to be believed. Built in 1922 as a summer home by Mr. Elis F. Stenman, a mechanical engineer who designed the machines that make paper clips, the house still stands today as a monument to ingenuity.

Performing Arts
Visitors can enjoy exceptional musical performances and events year round, including classical, jazz, folk and world music— as well as HD simulcasts from the Metropolitan Opera and England’s National Theatre -- at the critically acclaimed Shalin Liu Performance Center conveniently located in the scenic seaport village of Rockport, Massachusetts. Summer brings the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, which offers orchestral concerts from string quartets, pianists, vocalists, and trios throughout June.

Gloucester Stage Company presents professional productions of intellectually stimulating and socially relevant dramas, comedies, and musicals. Plays developed at the Gloucester Stage Company have gone on to critical and popular acclaim on Broadway, off-Broadway, across the United States, and around the world. The Company has received numerous awards and citations including several Elliot Norton Awards (awarded by The Boston Theater Critic's Association) for individual productions and performances and a New England Theater Conference Award. Gloucester Stage Company is located in East Gloucester, MA on Smith's Cove adjacent the galleries and restaurants of Rocky Neck, the oldest art colony in the United States.

Performances from the students at the Windover Center for the Performing Arts whose works have included the creation and re-creation of original choreography, dance/ theater pieces, and full-fledged musicals with original music can also be enjoyed year round. In addition, the Windhover Dance Company has performed reconstructions of the dances of Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman, and it is the only company in New England dedicated to the work of these pioneer modern dancers.

Walking & Hiking
Walk the Words guided tours takes you through rock formations created by glaciers 10,000 years ago, the remains of Dogtown, a colonial village from the 1700s, and boulders inscribed with inspiring words from the Great Depression.

Halibut Point State Park is owned by the Town of Rockport and is open for public use. Here you can explore the park's trails and tidepools, picnic on its rocky ledges, enjoy its sweeping views, and learn about Cape Ann's historic granite industry.

Whale Watching
Spy a gentle giant out in the waters of Cape Ann. Humpback, Fin, and Minke whales, and even the endangered Right whale, feed here from mid-April through October. Other sea mammals, such as dolphins, and rare seabirds, including Black Guillemots, Manx Shearwaters, Greater Shearwaters, Sooty Shearwaters and Wilson's Storm Petrels also can be spotted. Many whale boats guarantee sightings. Click here for Cape Ann whale tour options.

For the ultimate in privacy, Hawk Mountain Villas are perched on the mountainsides above the Inn, set apart from one another with no less than one and a half acres of their own land. Nestled among the majestic pines or clinging to a precipitous mountain ridge, these villas blend subtly with their surroundings, while highlighting existing features of the forest terrain. Each luxury villa is designed to immediately establish rapport of house and land by preserving the most impressive natural features of the Vermont topography. Walkways are built beside brooks or on bridges leading to a villa entrance. A deck, sturdy and elegant, is masterfully crafted around a noble oak. The result is a villa that gracefully partakes of its restful environment and maintains an ambiance of serenity. Built of hardwoods, quarry tile, glass and slate, Hawk Mountain Villas blend both traditional and contemporary design in a very distinctive manner. Walls of windows offer spectacular views of surrounding mountains, lakes and valleys. A massive fieldstone fireplace highlights lofty cathedral ceilings while bestowing hearthside warmth and an overall air of coziness. Best of all, many villas contain a sauna, Jacuzzi, and other luxurious appointments that befit a world-class resort. However, you may find that what you cherish most about your visit are the quiet evenings spent on the cantilevered deck of your Mountain Villa. It is then that you become conscious of the playful breeze, the romantically charged moon and the multitude of stars the city never allowed you to see.
