Awarded Best of New England 2012 by the Editors of Yankee Magazine, Stonecroft Country Inn is a Mystic B&B nestled on 6.5 rolling acres of lush lawns and terraced gardens in the Connecticut countryside. Originally the 1807 estate of Sea Captain Shubel Smith, Stonecroft Country Inn offers two distinct lodging options amidst an atmosphere of relaxation and romance.

Our unique property offers two inns in one – a sunny 1807 Georgian Colonial with wide plank floors and wood burning fireplaces; and a renovated post and beam barn, we call The Yellow Barn, featuring luxurious accommodations with whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces.

The Inn is conveniently located in Ledyard – just minutes to downtown Mystic, the Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, and close to Long Island Sound. A brief drive away is all the excitement of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. These spectacular venues offer games of chance and world-class entertainment just a short distance from our tranquil retreat. If sunny beaches are what you seek, we are only 20 minutes to Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island or Ocean Beach in New London, CT. And, for one of the most popular day trips in New England, we are just 45 minutes from Newport, RI.

Whatever the season, whatever the weather, whatever your passion, there is always something to do around Stonecroft.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

Sounds of light jazz, flickering candles and a beautiful fireplace add to the sensory experience. Overview
Overview Text:
Hill Farm Inn is not just a wonderful place to spend the night – it offers a unique and special Vermont country experience. A variety of charming and inviting guest rooms have been created around the heart of a two-hundred-year-old dairy farm. The farm's fields and pastures at the foot of Mt. Equinox provide acres of scenic open space for a picture perfect setting. You can wander through our historic barn, visit our numerous friendly farm animals, explore our nature trails along the famed Battenkill River, or just sit by the fire or out on the wrap-around porch and relax. Ours is the kind of place where there's always plenty to do – but never anything you have to do.

Our convenient but tucked away location, less than two miles south of Manchester, puts you right in the middle of some of the best that Southern Vermont has to offer. While you can’t walk to shops and restaurants, you don’t see or hear them either. Views from the porch are of fields, mountains, and grazing sheep, not just buildings, roads, or cars. Still, just minutes up the road you’ll find quaint Vermont villages and numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation.

While our historic buildings date from 1790 and 1830, our rooms have been updated to provide you with gracious comfort. They offer soft, comfortable sheets, fluffy oversized towels, hair dryers, and individually decorated rooms featuring hand-stenciling, antique quilts and country touches. All accommodations have private bathrooms. Rooms in the Inn and Guest House are air conditioned in summer, and most have cable television. The Cabins offer a simpler country charm (no television or A/C) with maximum privacy and your own porch to view the surrounding countryside and mountain backdrop.

Each morning you'll enjoy the full country breakfast that has become a Hill Farm Inn tradition. As part of the Vermont Fresh Network we strive to use as many locally produced ingredients as possible. We serve muffins, scones, and breakfast breads fresh from the oven, as well as fresh fruit and an assortment of juices. Then guests choose from a menu of traditional favorites including what we are told are the best blueberry pancakes around, served with local Vermont maple syrup. Other choices include French toast, eggs the way you like them, hand-cut bacon, maple sausage, homemade granola and more. Even our toast is made from home-baked bread. Beverages include Green Mountain Coffee, brewed decaf, hot chocolate, and assorted teas.

Because we cook your breakfast to order we are able to meet most special dietary needs. Just let us know what we can do for you.

Every afternoon we fill a table with a choice of teas, hot chocolate, coffee and home-baked cookies fresh from the oven. Then, in the evening, the table is replenished so you can enjoy a little something after dinner. You are welcome to bring your own wine and other beverages to enjoy while visiting.

We are located in The New London Area in the Sunapee Region of New Hampshire. The village of North Sutton is one of four villages within the Town of Sutton. This area is easy to reach via the expressway system. We can provide detailed driving directions when you call for reservations.

Boston is just 1 1/2 hours via I-93 north to I-89 north, Exit 10.

Montreal is about 4 hours away via I-89 south, Exit 10 (in NH, not VT).

New York City is about 5 1/2 hours via: I-287 north across the Tappen Zee Bridge; to I-684 east to I-84 east into CT; at Hartford CT take I-91 north toWhite River Junction VT; take I-89 south to Exit 10.

We are at Exit 10 off I-89. Turn left if coming from the south; turn right coming from the north. Proceed about 100 yards. Turn right onto North road (Just follow the signs for Route 114 or Wadleigh State Park) for about 1 mile. Turn right onto Route 114 for 1/4 mile. We are just behind the white church on the right. There we are. We are at the intersection of Route 114 and Keyser Street, across from the lake.

We are midway between Concord, NH, our state capitol and Hanover, NH, where Dartmouth College is located. New London, home of Colby-Sawyer College, is four miles from the inn.

You can avoid the hassle of Logan Airport in Boston by using the Manchester, NH Airport, only 50 minutes away from us via interstates I-93 and I-89. It is serviced by several major airlines including United, Continental, US Airways, and SouthWest Air.

Each of our 17 guest rooms have been decorated to reflect an individual lakehouse decorating style. Your room is named after one of the ancestors of the town, maybe Abigail or Ichabod or Hannah. Each is comfortably accommodated with king, queen, full or twin-sized beds, covered with quilts and comfy pillows. Several have special lake views. We also have several very special suites.

Two common rooms provide space for relaxation and conversation. One echoes a rustic Americana theme with a wood-burning stove and barnwood walls from one of the original out buildings. The other, facing the lake, offers a service bar with a wide choice of beers and select wines, a comfortable seating area by a fireplace and a game table.

Located on 10 acres of rolling lawns with spectacular ocean views, OceanCliff offers a truly unique blend of breathtaking beauty, world-class cuisine and a professionally trained staff to ensure meticulous attention to every detail of your stay.

OceanCliff Resort was designed and built in 1864 by the architectural firm Peabody & Stearns from Boston who designed the original Breakers and Doris Duke's Rough point both located on elegant Bellevue Avenue. A wealthy industrialist a member of Mrs. Astor's 400 Club originally used OceanCliff as a private summer residence during the Gilded Age. The estate remained a private summer home until 1954, when it was sold and later converted into an oceanfront retreat to host lavish parties and society affairs.

Twenty-five distinctly stylized guest rooms whisk you back to the 19th century with modern conveniences and stunning oceanfront views. OceanCliff's newly renovated grand ballroom accommodates from 70-250 guests for dinner and dancing, while a variety of smaller rooms allow for more intimate gatherings.

The Safari Restaurant & Lounge at OceanCliff is known for providing extraordinary culinary experiences both indoors and out. Our experienced team of culinary professionals provides the ultimate dining experience, utilizing only the finest ingredients including a selection of fresh local seafood, prime aged beef, and exotic house specialties all while offering panoramic views of Narragansett Bay. Complimentary Continental Breakfast is served each morning in the Safari Restaurant

We promise to serve the freshest and most interesting breakfasts possible and we look forward to surprising you daily with a different entrée, even if you’re here for an extended stay. Don’t be surprised if we serve summer fruit bruschetta with candied walnuts one day followed by savory french toast with poached eggs and baby field greens the next.  At the Maine Stay Inn, we are experienced in nut-free and gluten-free cooking.
